Peace: Day 4
How would you announce peace between two groups of people? Maybe you would have a formal treaty signing event followed by a state dinner. Chances are you would not send an army, but that is what God did. The idea of a ‘great company’ means more than a lot-it means an army. Imagine for a moment that you were in the fields that night outside of Bethlehem. You have just received the news that a Savior has been born who is the Messiah! You’ve gone from fear to wonder and everywhere in between, and then, an army of angels comes to say that there will finally be peace between God and man.
Before we knew Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we were at war with God. This means that mankind will be at war with God unless they come to know Christ. This is the message the angels brought to the shepherds that night-there was finally to be One to take away our punishment and sin. “Glory to God” for what He has done for us, in sending His Son to make a way for us to be at peace with Him!
Prayer focus: Ask God to forgive any sin that stands between you and Him. Thank Him for the peace we have with Him through Christ!
