Hope: Day 3
Who doesn’t love a good mystery? Paul says if we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior we understand a mystery which many people have wanted the answer to for ages. The answer to the riddle is “Christ in you.” You see, God promised His people through the words of the prophet Jeremiah that He would give them a new heart and write His law upon it. The question is, how would God do this amazing ‘heart replacement’ surgery? Who would have ever imagined that it would involve God actually living in us?
This side of the cross and the New Testament, we do not understand how strange this idea was before Christ came. The idea of God being with His people is not original to the New Testament. The idea of God being in His people, actually living in them, is unique. Before Jesus came to earth, even before His death and resurrection, no one had, in their wildest dreams, thought of something as miraculous as Christ living in us. Christ in us is the hope of glory. You see, with Jesus living in us, we not only have the hope of future glory, but also a glory now. God lives in us. There is nothing more hope-inspiring than that truth. We have living in us the very God who spoke the universe into existence. With God living in us, there is truly nothing which we face that we cannot face with hope. No matter what we go through, our God, who lives in us, gives us the hope of glory.
Prayer Focus: Ask God that He would let you to experience His presence living in you and to know the hope that it brings.
